Dream Post #2

There's a young boy sitting near a dark haired woman. His clothes are too big for him and he has dark hair that looks almost greasy. He looks so much like her that there really can't be any mistake that this is his mother. And in her hands she has what looks like a slender stick that she's causing little lights to float out from him. The boy laughs as he watches them float through the air.

"They're beautiful."

"You could do this too after some training, Severus."

He looks up at her with wonder. "Do you think I could get in to the school too?"

She nods and he goes to lean against her as she makes the lights move about, floating through the air in pretty patterns. It's then that the door slams open and she gasps. Both of them turn quickly to find an angry man staring down at them.

"Didn't I tell you to put that foolish stick away?"

"But I wanted to give Severus a Christmas present..."

Suddenly a large hand has the boy by the hair and is pulling him away from his mother. Severus lets out a little pained shriek from the treatment but all the struggling does it make it worse. The woman reaches for him but soon cowers when the man begins to yell at her. It looks like he will end up striking her as well when suddenly everything in the room starts to shake. There are tears streaking down Severus' face before he lets out a scream and a book flies across the room to hit his father in the head.

Instantly the man drops him and the woman gathers the boy in her arms.

"Fine. You take that monster, Eileen. But no more of that witchcraft tonight. I won't allow it when I am trying to make this out presentable."

And with that the man left leaving the boy crying in his mother's arms. Softly, she began to whisper that yes he would get into Hogwarts. He would get into that school and become a great wizard...

Snape awakens and lifts up his wand. With a flick the Dreamberry shuts off. He refuses to let anyone see his reaction to such a memory.

[A flash of blonde, and there's Rose on the screen, looking concerned. She's still new, she doesn't really understand the entirety of this world and it's dreams, how they can be broadcast like that, so if she's a touch overly concerned, it can probably be chalked up to that.]

[He knows exactly where he is and Apparates up to the room, sitting down with his friend.]

[ Call it dumb luck or just a pure accident, but Harry's seen the dream. What he doesn't see is the fact that his own dreamberry has turned on to show Harry watching the dream and looking sad and a bit nostalgic. The situation's not quite the same, but the feelings are. He remembers his own childhood pains, and the fact that Snape and he shared something like that leaves an odd feeling in Harry's stomach. ]

[ Well this situation is awkward, but no he wasn't really apologizing for what had happened to Snape, that'd be like Snape apologizing for what had happened to Harry...oh wait...]

[Well, that's. That's different. It's the way James imagines Lily's muggle family treating Harry, or the way Sirius' Pureblooded one treated him. How society would gladly treat Remus-- like a freak.

So, while Snape isn't usually a target for sympathy from him...]

Well. You did find your niche.

[It's the nicest thing he can get his tongue to say to Snape. Potions was difficult subject... and he'd at least excelled in it. Not as good as some folks, mind~ but not bad at all. He'd made it to Hogwarts and done something with merit-able ability.]

[Oh. That's someone he never wanted to learn about his past. His eyes narrow a bit but he bites his tongue to keep from actually snapping at Potter.]

[There's a pause there as if he dares him to speak against it.]

Rather sure being Potions Master and Potions Teacher are the same sort of niche. The Dark Arts, for example, would be a different sort of niche.

[James can't help himself. Harry's told him all about that. And while he's trying to be fair for the sake of their shaky truce and this unfortunate memory, Snape is such an insufferable git that it makes it all very difficult. And they call him arrogant? Merlin.]

Headmaster is as impressive as it is shocking.

[Oh dear, Remus would actually have preferred to not see such an intimate detail from this particular man's past. It wasn't any of his business at all and it was obvious that Severus would not be pleased to have shared this dream with the werewolf and his friends of all people.]

I take it I'm too late to stop James and Sirius from seeing this, aren't I?
