Well here's the thing... Can he get into her head at all?

Well no one's ever really been given the power of "telepathy" in SM canon (not exact "mind reading" in any case) so really, she would see no reason to defend from it. And Serenity is susceptible to trances and spells when she's not suspecting it soo I don't see why he couldn't. I don't THINK she would notice it either considering there are actual ways to be sneaky about legilimens.

Yeah. And Snape is skilled in it too. So he would have gathered that she's not evil just from that and he probably doubts that she would be able to fool his skills.
